Ampara District General Hospital is the only government hospital which obtained ISO 9001 standard award for quality management system.

The Ministry further stated that, Ampara General Hospital Director Dr. Lanka Jayasinghe represented Sri Lanka at the award ceremony held recently in Arizona State.

Ampara General Hospital received the international award for Best Hospital in the World for 2014 by the Institute for Health and Productivity Management, US.
